DIN EN 15038

Quality assurance to DIN EN 15038

Prerequisites for high-quality translations are described in DIN EN 15038, which was established in August, 2006 to succeed DIN 2345. According to this, translators need competency in translation (dedicated training, experience, continuing education) and the respective culture and field of specialization. They need appropriate skills in both the source language and the target language and the ability and willingness to research. A completed translation must be reviewed and, if necessary, revised by the translator themselve and another translator and perhaps reviewed by a specialist in the respective field. The language service provider must have the required technical equipment and ensure that all stages of project management (from the quotation and agreements with the client to data protection and selection of the appropriate translator and all the way to planning and adherence to delivery deadlines) and quality assurance are documented properly.
